Mr. Maloney's classes have been studying Holiday traditions. This past week, his students enjoyed making latkes after their study about Hanukkah. Merry Christmas from Mr. Maloney's classes!

This week, Dr. Alldred's classes are working to understand the mechanisms for evolution. This inquiry based lab had students battling with their "beaks" to prove their ability to survive a changing environment.

Big shout out to Mrs. Paula Cooper and her Lumpkin Youth Leadership students for working in Santa's Workshop this week. Together they worked with Family Connection to pack Christmas toys for families in our area. Thank you Mr. Robb Nichols and Paul Thomas Chocolates for organizing this day and providing yummy treats! LYL would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Ms. Westafer's Environmental Science students traveled to Sandy Springs last week to investigate the impact forests have on our water quality. They took soil samples, studied cattails, learned about different turtles in the area, and evaluated the water quality by identifying macro invertebrates. Jerry Hightower and his volunteers were amazing! Thank you Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and the National Park Service for letting LCHS students enjoy the beauty of the Chattahoochee and the surrounding forests.

Congratulations to Lisa Lopresti and the LCHS Yearbook Staff for receiving the SUPERIOR Award from the Georgia Scholastic Press Association for their publication last year! GSPA's award was accompanied by this comment: "Leaning into the virtual nature of a disrupted pandemic year was an ingenious way to tell the story of the year. Many publications tried to proceed as normal. This one wisely shared the story of how virtual life collided with in-person interaction."
