Libbie Armstrong

Mrs. Libbie Armstrong

Principal

Mrs. Libbie Armstrong grew up in Spokane, Washington and Blue Ridge, Georgia. She graduated from Gonzaga Prep and attended Washington State University before going into the US Army. She was stationed at the Airborne School at (what was then) Ft. Benning in 1991, spending time at the Ranger Camps in Dahlonega and Florida. After active duty, she graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, while still serving in the US Army Reserves and NC and GA Army National Guard.

She started her career in education at Lumpkin County High School, where she taught AP World History, Economics and Government from 1997-2012, and coached Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball. From 2012-2024, she served as Athletic Director and Assistant Principal in the Hall County School District.

She holds a Bachelor's degree from App State, a Master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Specialist degree from the University of North Georgia.

Her husband, Jeff Armstrong, is a Dahlonega native and they have one son, Rylan Armstrong.

Mrs. Catherine Lee

School Counselor

Catherine Lee has worked in education since graduating from Georgia College and State University in 1994.  Catherine earned her Masters Degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2010.  She has experience in all three levels of public education.  After working as a School Counselor in Florida for the past nine years, Catherine is excited to be back in North Georgia at Lumpkin County Middle School.

Lori Overmyer

Mrs. Lori A. Overmyer

Assistant Principal

Lori A. Overmyer is from Ringgold, Georgia. Mrs. Overmyer received her bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades ELA and Mathematics from NGCSU (North Georgia College and State University) while playing collegiate fastpitch softball. Throughout her professional career as an educator, Overmyer attended NGCSU receiving her Master’s Degree in Physical Education/Health and her specialist degree from Piedmont. Mrs. Overmyer serves as the Assistant Principal for Lumpkin County Middle School.

Jammie Caine

Mrs. Jammie Caine

School Improvement Specialist

Mrs. Jammie Caine, originally a Stephens County Indian, graduated from Piedmont College in 2008 with her Bachelor's Degree in Broad Field Social Science. While working as a Graduate Assistant in the School of Secondary Education at Piedmont, she completed her Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in History. Immediately after graduating with her Masters, she was hired at Habersham County Ninth Grade Academy. Mrs. Caine worked at North Habersham Middle School teaching 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies for over 6 years before moving with her family to Lumpkin County. She served as the Social Studies Department Chair and taught 8th-grade Georgia Studies at Lumpkin County Middle School before moving into her current role as School Improvement Specialist.

Bobby Mayfield

Mrs. Brooke Flakes

Assistant Principal

Brooke Flakes is originally from Waynesboro, Georgia, also known as the Bird Dog Capital of the world. She earned her BBA in Finance from Georgia Southern University in 2002 and entered the classroom as a 6th grade math teacher in 2003 at Burke County Middle School. She taught math for 6 years and transitioned into the gym as a Physical Education teacher for 5 years. In her last year at BCMS, she also served as the athletic director. She earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Valdosta State University in 2014. Brooke and her family moved to Dahlonega in June of 2014 and she taught 6th grade math at Lumpkin County Middle School for three years and was hired as the athletic director in 2015. She then taught Physical Education for 6 more years before transitioning into her role as an assistant principal. She is currently pursuing her Specialist Degree from Kennesaw State University.

Mr. Josh Chatham

Assistant Principal

Josh Chatham is from Dacula, Ga. Josh got an undergraduate degree from North Georgia College and State University in Social Science. He then got his masters from UNG in History and Education. Later he received his Specialist in Education from Piedmont College. Mr. Chatham has worked in Lumpkin County for most of his education career and is proud to be an Assistant Principal at LCMS. Mr. Chatham is most proud of his family: Autumn (wife), Sadie, Gunner and Gaines. Outside of school, Mr. Chatham enjoys preaching, being with his family, and spending time hunting and fishing.

Gala Fugate

Mrs. LaGala Fugate

School Counselor

LaGala has been privileged to serve as a School Counselor at Lumpkin County Middle School since 2013. She obtained a Bachelor Of Science degree in Psychology in 2010 and a Master Of Education degree, specializing in School Counseling in 2012 from Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia. She is proud to be a native Texan and loves her Dallas Cowboys!

Mrs. Brandy Phillips

Lead SPED

Brandy Phillips grew up in the Coal Mountain area of Forsyth County. She then graduated from Forsyth Central High School in 1995, then went on to study education at UNG. After graduating from UNG, she worked for 8  years as a special education teacher and department head for Creekland Middle School’s special education department. She later transitioned to teaching middle school ELA and SS. After 16 years of teaching, she became an Academic Coach for the Cherokee County School District, later serving as assistant principal of Ball Ground STEM Academy. After moving to LCMS, she has served as a 6th-grade ELA teacher for two years and is now serving as lead teacher of the LCMS special education department. 

She holds three professional degrees. Her undergraduate degree is in Education which she received from the University of North Georgia. She later went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Special Education from Brenau University, and a Specialists Degree from Piedmont College in Curriculum and Instruction.

She currently resides in Dahlonega Georgia with her husband Chris Phillips, who is also a Lumpkin County Educator, and her two adult daughters.

Tonya Trammell

Mrs. Tonya M. Trammell

Media Specialist

Mrs. Trammell grew up in Dahlonega, Georgia, and is a proud alumna of Lumpkin County High School. She attained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of North Georgia and her Master's Degree in School Library Media from the University of West Georgia. Mrs. Trammell has taught in the Lumpkin County School System for her entire career.
