Congratulations to Hank Corbin who had the amazing opportunity last weekend to perform with some of the best middle school singers in the state in Athens at All Stare Chorus!
Hank successfully completed a rigorous audition process to be selected for this honor. Great work to him and our chorus teacher, Mr. Martin!

6th graders are learning about the harmful effects of tobacco today from volunteers with the Tar Wars program. We appreciate our partnership with Drug Free Lumpkin 365 to provide this important info for our students!

Mrs. Head's reading classes are doing some travel planning today as they read brochures from areas of interest around the region.

The Leader in Me language is starting to seep into the culture at LCMS. Students have talked about fixed mindsets vs. growth mindsets during character ed, and one of our 6th graders used that great vocabulary when writing in her ELA class about some literature she had read. We're excited about the potential of this framework to help our students become their best selves!

It's Random Acts of Kindness Week! Today we watched this video about showing empathy to those with less than us or who are being bullied. This skill is so important and can help change the culture, simply supporting others who are going through a tough time is one of the best ways to demonstrate kindness.

It's Random Acts of Kindness Week! Today, we watched this video and started discussing what kindness means. Try to keep it going at home, encourage your student to demonstrate kindness and model it by doing something nice for a neighbor or friend.

Ambassadors from LCHS came and shared some insight into life in high school with our 8th graders today!

It's National School Counselor's Week!

When one of the charter busses bringing our 8th graders back from Savannah yesterday broke down on the interstate outside of Macon, it looked like our kiddos were going to be stranded for a while! We reached out to our friends in Butts County and one of their drivers, Ms. Deborah, volunteered to take her bus, pick up our students on the side of the road, and drive them three hours back to Dahlonega (arriving at 11:00pm).
Her response when we thanked her profusely was "I'm just doing my job." We are thankful for our extended eduction tribe in Georgia and glad everyone is back home safely!

Ms. Grizzle's class continued the Kindness Week Challenge by having lessons on picking up trash, eating healthy snacks, deep breathing, setting goals to smile at 25 people during the day, making hearts to pass out to others, exercising/dancing, listening to music, and making bookmarks. We even had the Partners Club join in on the fun by helping make the hearts!

Students got to experiment with virtual reality today in Computer Science.

And with that our Basketball season comes to a close. Congratulations to all our players and coaches on an excellent season! 8th Grade boys finished in 2nd place in the region, 8th grade girls finished in 4th place, and 7th grade boys finished in 4th. We appreciate our community's support this season!

January 22-26 is the Great Kindness Challenge Week! Ms. Grizzle and Ms. Anderson's classes pitched in to help clean up campus and shared their smiles with the rest of us. What can you do this week to spread some kindness?

We are so excited to be hosting the FIRST Lego League regional today. Good luck to our teams from LCMS and thank you to Mrs. Tori Jones for organizing today's events!

Mrs. Miller's 8th graders built snowmen today using their knowledge of verbals. It's definitely cold enough to build a snowman, hope you all stay warm this weekend!

Our friends from Camp Frank D. Merrill came back to Tribe Time today to teach some of our kids how assemble and program field radios!

Our school governance team meeting scheduled for tomorrow afternoon has been cancelled. Our next LSGT meeting will be February 27th.
Everyone stay safe and warm tomorrow!
