7th grade getting ready for Halloween with thriller math!

Last week, 7th-grade science had three labs investigating living things. Students swabbed area surfaces and grew bacteria over the week. We looked through a microscope and observed microscopic protists from pond water, and then dissected mushrooms to learn how mushrooms get their energy from decaying/decomposing organisms.

Join us tomorrow before the Family Connection Halloween Bash for our annual Title I Parent Meeting! This is an opportunity for you to get information about how the school and district uses Title I funds and give input into their future uses.

6th graders are in for a spooky good time this week in ELA as they enjoy a room transformation and scary short stories!

Did you know that LCMS received a state grant to become a Leader in Me School? Teachers began training yesterday on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We will begin teaching the habits to our students in January! We are excited to help our kids and faculty to grow as we learn more!

Over the next couple of weeks, seventh graders will be visiting the hallway’s “Suspense Room”. They will read a variety of short stories and learn how different literary elements such as setting, symbolism and irony can impact the suspenseful mood of a story.

LC Boys Cross Country - 4 TIME MOUNTAIN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! 10 PR's Set! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Finishers! An individual Mountain League Champion-Witt Windham! And a nice Championship Team trophy to top it off! 7th grade participated in a special online seminar with author Ric Riordan today! They enjoyed hearing more about the writing process and getting a behind the scenes peek behind a successful book series line "Percy Jackson."

Congratulations to our Student of the Month, Serena Pomphile Huerta! Our local Sunrise Rotary Club honored her this morning with the "service over self" award. Thank you for your service to our school, Serena!

Sixth graders are learning about ratios this week! We introduced the topic by completing a "Fruit Loop Lab."

Our Very Involved Parents (VIPs) created delicious charcuterie boxes for our staff today. It was a great treat, and we are so thankful for the support of our parents!

Mrs. Chatham's class put their knowledge of decimals to the test in order to purchase materials to build a bridge. Their goal was to build the largest weight bearing bridge. Today, they tested their weight and voted on the best design.

Mr. Gastley's 6th graders created Shark Tank Style Presentations to demonstrate a product and answer tough questions from peers.

Mrs. Trammell in our library meets with classes throughout the week to teach literacy and book focused lessons. This week students are exploring different genres to be exposed to new and exciting books!

LCMS represented the Tribe well yesterday at the Mountain Invitational held at Unicoi State Park. Our girls placed 7th out of 21 teams with Miah Laxson, Aubree Brown, Violet Greene, Kit Norton, and Kierstin Powell finishing as our Top 5 runners! Our boys team placed 6th out of 23 teams with Witt Windham, Eli Branan, Brewer Dansby-Sparks, Wylder Flakes, and Hudson Branan finishing as our Top 5! Way to go Indians! It was another RECORD BREAKING DAY for runner Witt Windham as he crossed the finish line first in front of almost 400 runners! He ran 3000M in a time of 11:09.50 breaking LCHS Sophomore cross country runner Hagen Glenn’s record of 11:51.79. Congratulations Witt! Good luck to our teams as they compete in the Mountain League Championship next Thursday at Clear Creek Middle School!

Football won again tonight in Towns County! And look at that view we got to enjoy!

We had an amazing College Week! Thank you to everyone who participated! Dr. Davis, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Trammell won our door decorating contest, but there were many excellent entries!
